The Great Moroccan South from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech / Aït Ben Haddou

Departure from Marrakech (4 × 4 vehicle) in the early morning to Aït Ben Haddou, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass in the High Atlas mountains and via the town of Telouet where you will visit its famous Kasbah, a of the former residences of Pacha Glaoui.
After lunch, visit the nearby salt mines and continue the circuit through the Ounila Valley, part of which was still used by the caravans that linked sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech until the middle of the 20th century.
Arrival at the end of the afternoon in Aït Ben Haddou and visit of its superb Kasbah classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
Installation in your hotel then dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Aït Ben Haddou / Dades Gorges

Depart from your hotel early in the morning towards the famous rock faces of the Dades Gorges by taking the kasbah route which crosses the city of Skoura, a fertile oasis bordered by immense palm groves.
We will join El Kelâa M’Gouna famous for its Festival of Roses which takes place every year in spring.
Continuation through the Valley of the Roses then the villages of Ait Saïd, Tourbist and Tamalout then Bou-Thahrar.
Walk along the M’Goun river, then continue to the Kasbah of Ait Youl in the Dades valley with its colorful rocks and ancient kasbahs. Arrival at your guesthouse in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Dades Gorges / Todgha Gorges
 
From the start of the morning, an hour's hike will take you to the canyons of the Dades Gorges and their magnificent landscapes where the houses merge with the rock.
Lunch and continuation to the famous Todgha Gorges through the city of Tinghir. 
These gorges are cut in the thick cover of limestone from the High Atlas and are among the most beautiful in southern Morocco. 
 Arrival at your hotel at the end of the day for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Todgha Gorges / M’Hamid El Ghizlane
 
Depart early in the morning for Zagora passing through the village of Alnif and crossing the Jebel Saghro mountain range via the Tizi-n-Tazazert pass and the village of Hsia. After lunch, continue to Zagora through the village of Taghbalt and the Tizi-n-Tafilalet pass in the Anti Atlas mountains. 
In the early afternoon, departure for M’Hamid passing through the village of Tamgroute to visit its Koranic library and its workshops for making green pottery unique in Morocco. Arrival in your bivouac at M’Hamid at the end of the afternoon to watch the sunset over the dunes. Dinner and overnight in a tent or under the stars. 
Day 5: Day trip to the big dunes of Chigaga
 
After breakfast, departure by the north track towards the big dunes of Chigaga which extend over a length of 40 kms and a width of 15 kms. They are located 60 km west of M’Hamid. 
Lunch in the form of a picnic at the foot of the large dunes after having had the courage to climb the highest peaks.
Return to your bivouac by the South track at the end of the afternoon.
Dinner and overnight 
Day 6: M’Hamid el Ghizlane / Ouarzazate
 
After breakfast visit the village of Zaouia and our tree planting project initiated by the Dutch Foundation Sahara and Roots with whom we have been collaborating for many years. You can plant a tree with your name there (olive, pomegranate or date palm) then departure for Ouarzazate up the Draa Valley, part of which crosses the green oases of Zagora, Tinzouline and Agdz.
Arrival at your hotel in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon.
Dinner and overnight
 

Day 7: Ouarzazate / Marrakech

In the early morning return to Marrakech via the villages of Agouim and Ighrem in the High Atlas mountains.
Lunch on the way and arrival at your hotel in Marrakech at the end of the afternoon.
